Free Range Friday at Teesside University
February 2015
On Friday 30th January, Executive Creative Director Rob Howsam facilitated a one day project at Teesside University, alongside Senior Lecturer Marcus Diamond (a former Founder and Art Director at Neasden Control Centre).
The initiative entitled ‘Free Range Friday’ saw third year Graphic Design students create an 8 page broadsheet, based around the idea of ‘versus’ (love vs hate, tea vs coffee etc).
The group were split into three, each working on a different part of the editorial by producing visuals and content. A smaller motion team were also be briefed to produce a 54 sec ident to complement the broadsheet.
Free Range Friday is a fast moving, creative and very experimental environment, allowing final year students with a breadth of skills to come together and be creative. The event is a great opportunity for the students to learn from one another whilst working to a tight deadline, before taking the step into a live working environment.
